System of Selecting the Principal Processes and Localizing
Quasi-Equilibrium Blocks in Physicochemical Kinetics

The problem of simplifying a complex model describing the kinetics of multistage physicochemical processes in gas is studied. An algorithm for determining the principal processes is proposed. The algorithm is founded on building the stage hierarchy by rates of the individual processes. An automatic system is used to solve the problem; the main elements of the system are structured physicochemical databases, a generator of kinetic equations describing vibrational relaxation and chemical reactions, a program complex for the numerical solution of gas dynamic equations together with rate equations, and programs for simulating and optimizing the kinetic models of the medium. The capabilities of the algorithm are illustrated by building up a mechanism of principal processes in designing a CO2 gas dynamic laser.
